School Lunches
Healthy, Happy, and Hassle-Free
Why School Lunch Matters
Lunch is more than a meal — it’s part of your child’s school day. It’s a chance to recharge, enjoy food with friends, and be ready to learn. Our dining hall is welcoming, cheerful, and designed to make lunchtime something children look forward to.
What Makes Our Lunches Special
- 100% of meals freshly prepared daily
- No artificial trans fats or undesirable additives
- Menus meet all dietary and cultural needs
- Staff trained regularly in food skills and allergy awareness
- Certified to Government School Food Standards
Nutrition & Allergies
Our dietitians design menus to be balanced and low in salt and sugar. Hunger affects concentration — well-fed children learn better.
We provide allergy-safe menus wherever possible. Staff receive annual allergy training.
What’s on the Menu?
- Meat and Vegan options
- Jacket potatoes or pasta and sandwiches
- Fresh vegetables and daily salad bar
- Hot and cold desserts (fruit always available)
- Free drinking water
Menus run on a three-week cycle, updated termly, based on feedback from pupils, parents, and staff. Meals are £3 per day and need to be booked on Arbor a week in advance.
Better for the Planet
- Green Earth days: all meals plant-based
- Plant proteins are rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, low in saturated fat, and support heart and digestive health
- We source responsibly: Red Tractor meat, MSC fish, free-range eggs, local bread, fruit, veg, dairy, and seasonal produce
Learning Through Food
Children learn about food through themed events, assemblies, and displays. They discover:
- How to make healthy choices
- Where food comes from
- Seasonality and sustainability
- How to eat better for the planet
Why Choose School Lunch?
Only 1% of packed lunches meet school nutrition standards. School lunches are better because they:
- Save parents time and money
- Are nutritionally balanced
- Encourage varied diets and new tastes
- Promote inclusivity and social dining
- Support concentration and academic success
Free School Meals
- Reception, Year 1, Year 2: All children receive universal free school meals
- Year 3 and above: Free meals available if your family receives certain benefits (Income Support, Universal Credit, etc.)
- Children receiving benefits directly also qualify. Talk to school to find out how to apply.
School lunches = healthy children, happy parents, better learning
